Ideas do not change the world people do.

Everyone wants to be an entrepreneur these days. And everyone is after that one idea that will change the world. Everyone assumes that to be an entrepreneur they need an awesome idea or an idea that is unique. They refuse to believe that even a common business plan like a restaurant is also an idea.

Many people believe that you should have a unique idea to get success as an entrepreneur. Without that unique idea no one can be an entrepreneur. The idea should change the world and so on.

I refuse to believe this concept. I believe that any idea is a good idea (considering it is come from a sane person). The success or failure of an idea is related to the execution of that idea. How you plan to have the idea succeed. If you fail to give your 100% to that idea it will never work even if that idea is truly a ground breaking one. If you jump with that idea halfheartedly you will never be able to make it a success.

Even if that idea is starting a restaurant business, it depend on how you execute it. Even though there may be a number of restaurants out there you still can make it big. You still can succeed in it. I would go so far as to say that even if it is not an unique restaurant and just serves samosa’s it still can be big. It just depends on your execution. How you plan to open it. How you manage the resources etc. there are so many dhabas, tapris which are doing very good business even with so much competition around.

It also depends on with whom you share your ideas. if you share your ideas with negative people, who themselves have never done any business, they will tell you that your idea is no good, irrespective of what that idea is. They will find faults in it. Demotivate you in the process. Talk about all the negative aspects of the idea and why it is bound to fail. Keep away from these people. Do not share your ideas with them.

Ideas do not change the world, people behind those ideas do. People with a passion towards that idea. That attitude to get the idea successful, that zest for working on the idea, these people change the world. Want to end with this statement

“Believe in yourself even if no one does, because you are the one who is going to execute the idea not others.”

Our Journey as an entrepreneur

“As long as you’re going to be thinking anyway, think big.”
- Donald Trump

As most of you may know my wife and me are now owners of a garment retail shop, known as Good Choice. In other word we are now entrepreneurs. I always wanted to start a business be an entrepreneur. Thought of many business ideas some died even before they began. Some made it to jotting ideas on a paper, some up to forming a business model, but all of them never got converted to a business.
A year before me and my wife, who then was working in a garment shop here in Pune, had decided to start some business of our own. Since my wife worked in a garment shop we decided to start one. But as time passed this idea went to the backlog and many other things took priority like moving to a new home, birth of our son. Around June the idea of a business again came up and this time we decided to take the plunge and start the business.
It was early June when we decided about starting the business(seriously this time). The first thing we did, which was very obvious, was to find a shop. A shop which is of less rent and close to where we stay. Closer since this would reduce the commute as she had to take care of our son too. We simultaneously also started contacting wholesale dealers within Pune and started filtering the best from a whole lot of options.
Early July we got our shop and instantly started to getting it ready. The first part of getting the shop ready was getting a counter. Getting quotations from carpenters for getting the shop furniture ready. The carpenter were too expensive, to be precise way out of our budget, hence ultimately decided to go for a second hand counter. Ultimately got the shop ready with all the fittings and glass display a day before the opening of the shop.
Second part was to get a good wholesale dealer. We visited many places around Pune, also visited Mumbai to get the best deals. During this time all three of us my son, my wife and me fell sick. this may be due to the weather or the pressure, stress of starting a business. Whatever the reason we were stressed and in pressure as we had given ourselves a deadline to get the shop open on 1st August 2014. Unfortunately as we were sick (very sick) we could not meet the target, but ultimately we opened the shop on 10th August 2014. As for the garments they came exactly the night before the opening.
Read and heard a lot about entrepreneurs, their struggles. Mine may not be as complicated as most of the big entrepreneurs, but i still can relate to thier struggles. The journey of being an entrepreneurs was fun, stressful, but one thing i learnt from it that if you wish, dream you can do anything. So dream big my friends and take the plunge you will enjoy it.
If any of you relate to my experiences please comment, share.
Thanks

The never ending veg non-veg debate

Hi All, this is another attempt of mine to write a blog. I have created several blogs before but never managed to regularly update them. This time I will try to write at least one blog every week (hopefully). If you follow my blog please help me write continuously by commenting your suggestions and appreciation (if any).
Today’s topic about which I want to write is actually a never ending debate about vegetarians and non-vegetarian’s. If you ask a vegetarian she will tell you that the human race is basically a vegetarian race. That is not true the human race did not get created out of nowhere we like other animals evolved and transformed from “animals” to so called “civilized beings”. We have, as mentioned in the Darwin evolution, evolved from apes. We initially were hunters and later became food gatherers and then food producers. We survived in the wild by hunting prey and living like other animals before we became food producers.
Today we produce variety of foods. From green leafy vegetables to fruits to cereals and so on. We have mastered the art of food producing, but this has come over time. We were essentially hunters. Our body structure provides proof of this. Let me outline points below so that you understand
1. Teeth structure:
If you look closely at our teeth structure it resembles that of carnivores for instance tigers and lions. We have canine teeth (fangs) which are needed to reap through the meat. The teeth structure of herbivores are very different. They do not have canine tooth. They just have the incisors to cut the vegetation. Where do humans fall in this? Carnivore’s right.
2. New born:
With the new born you see differences between herbivores and carnivores. When the herbivores give birth to their new born they not only stand but also start running within minutes of being born. There is a reason for this. If the herbivores new born do not learn to run as soon as their born they will never be able to defend themselves. When a predator attacks it will be an easy target, as it will not be able to defend itself. On the other hand the new born of a carnivore needs its mothers care. It needs to learn to stand, walk, run and even hunt. All of this its mother teaches it. The mother also teaches it how to hunt. The siblings playfully fight with each other and in the process learn to hunt. Now you decide which category does the human new born fit? Isn’t it in the carnivore category? The human baby learns to stand, walk in stages. It needs mothers care. So this is another point that proves humans are carnivore’s i.e. non vegetarians.
3. Eye Placement
The eye placement is also another way to identify an herbivore from a carnivore. In an herbivore the eye placement is at the side of the head. The reason for this is so that they have a panoramic view of their surroundings so that they can spot a predator making advances towards them. Whereas in the carnivores the eyes are placed in front so that they can focus on a particular prey during hunting. Again the same question where do humans fall in this category, herbivores or carnivores? Again the answer is in the carnivores.
Mother Nature is beautiful. She has designed the universe so beautifully that it cannot be replicated by anyone. She has designed some herbivores and some as carnivores. Humans being vegetarians is just a life style change and nothing else. Accept the facts.
Thanks Everyone. Please comment if you feel differently.
